Commentary on "Rejoicing Before the Lord: The Sanctuary and Worship"

COLLEEN TINKER

Day 6: Thursday, July 21, 2011 - Rejoicing Before the Lord

Overview

Today’s lesson is about rejoicing before God. It points out that God gave specific instructions to Israel for worship, and it further says that using the “sanctuary model”, the reader should see that all worship “must be …in the context of biblical truth”. It challenges the reader to se that “redemption, mediation and judgment” are worthy of rejoicing and asks the reader how he can have a “more joyful” worship experience.

Observations

Once again, this lesson ignores the foundation of the issue. Worship is not possible and certainly cannot be joyful and intimate if the worshiper is not born of the Spirit.

Adventism teaches a different gospel from the gospel of the Bible; no matter how sincere, a person is not worshiping the Jesus of the Scripture if he believes in a Jesus who could have sinned and failed and who did not know if he would rise from death.

Moreover, he is worshiping an unbiblical Jesus if his Jesus is in a continuing controversy with Satan, and if Satan carries away the sins of the saved at the end of things.

The biblical Jesus is the scapegoat who carries human sin. He is both just and the justifier who is the propitiation offered for our sin (Rom. 3:26-27).

Instead of feeling guilt over one’s worship intensity, deal with Jesus. If you have not laid down your life and beliefs and sin and reputation before Him for and received His blood as payment for your sin, do so.

Summary

  1. Worship is not possible without Jesus.
  2. If you have not repented and received the Lord Jesus as payment for your sin and as your eternal life, do so now.
  3. He is faithful.
