Commentary on "God as Artist"

Day 4: Tuesday, March 13, 2012 - God as Musician

 

The writer today makes a case that being an artist is “a relevant vocation for a Christian.” The discussion question aims to spark an internal (between members of the organization) discussion about what is acceptable church music.

My only comment is this: You cannot ensure that people are worshipping in spirit and in truth by creating a formula or list of rules on what acceptable worship is. Though the author has spent a whole unit talking about the creativity and beauty of God, she appears to be advocating the believers paint by number.

 

Question to consider

• In what ways do you shun or fear unfamiliar moves of the Spirit in a congregational setting?
