Commentary on "The Fruit of the Spirit is Meekness"
Day 5: Wednesday, February 24, 2010
OVERVIEW
The author lists many verses and asks how meekness is to be revealed in our lives. It asks the reader to see how it takes strength (not weakness) to reveal meekness in most of the situations in these Bible verses. It ends with the statement, “Of course, if meekness is a fruit of the Spirit, it’s something that comes from God and not of ourselves. Nevertheless, we need the daily surrender to the Lord, the daily willingness to obey in faith, in order for meekness to be made manifest in our lives.”
OBSERVATIONS
I like that the author went through many passages of scripture, showing different ways that meekness and humility play out practically in our lives. I also loved the fact that he didn’t confuse the issue with unnecessary Ellen G. White quotes. Probably one of the best things I noticed was the summary given at the end listed above in the “overview”. It’s right on. This is probably the best day of this week.
