Commentary on "The Fruit of the Spirit is Meekness"

TERRY MIRRA

Day 6: Thursday, February 25, 2010

OVERVIEW

The author lists several biblical references to show the many promises and rewards for the meek. He ends with a statement reiterating that the meek aren’t concerned about lifting themselves up, but lifting God up instead.

OBSERVATIONS

The author does another good job in listing scriptures pertinent to the rewards that are promised to the meek. Once again, it was nice to observe the absence of Ellen G. White as a reference. When the Bible stands alone there is much more clarity on the subject. Because meekness tends to be one of the more controversial fruit, it’s refreshing to see God’s promises to those who are living examples—evidence of the work of the Holy Spirit. The only thing I found a little unnecessary was the quip at the beginning of the lesson—a bit random.
