Commentary on "The Water of Life"
Day 4: Tuesday, April 20, 2010
Overview
It is well known that water is a basic building block of life and has many uses that support the quality of how we live our lives. Modern science is constantly revealing fascinating new information on the importance of water.
So, it should not be a surprise that God, in the bible, uses the word ‘water’ to graphically describe many different concepts that are of a spiritual nature.
Observations
Here is a sample list that defines what water is:
One of the final references to water is found in the book of Revelation:
And he said to me, "It is done! I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. To the thirsty I will give from the spring of the water of life without payment. The one who conquers will have this heritage, and I will be his God and he will be my son. (Rev. 21:6-7 ESV)
Notice that the water of life is freely given to us “without payment”.
