Day 5: Wednesday, March 23, 2011 - Service

Once we are saved, born again, we become priests a part of a kingdom of priests. Once we are born again by the indwelling of the Holy Spirit we find ourselves aligned to do the things that God would want us to do.

Good works and good fruit come because now we have the ability to produce them and do them. Before we were saved we were in sin and simply could not produce good works, our good works were like dirty rags to the Lord. Now that we’re saved, our works are done through His power and not our own.

Have you ever noticed that if you try and do something in your own power it is more difficult to accomplish than if you are doing something that is in God’s will? That’s because when we do things in our own power they are being done to bring ourselves the glory, when we actually do the good works that God has prepared in advance for us to do we find the going much easier.

There is no doubt that God calls us to feed and clothe the hungry, help to heal the sick, protect the innocent, and uphold those who cannot stand up for themselves. These are all things that need to be done, however when you were born again God gave you a special set of gifts, things that you are better at doing then others, gifts of the Spirit.

If you work within the chosen framework of God for your life you will make a far greater impact for the Kingdom of God, then if you try and do things in your own power.

As you do the good works that God has prepared for you in advance to do you will grow in your personal relationship with God.

The most important thing to remember is the following, you can KNOW that you are saved, and the Bible says that multiple times. Here is just one of the occasions:

This is he who came by water and blood--Jesus Christ; not by the water only but by the water and the blood. And the Spirit is the one who testifies, because the Spirit is the truth. For there are three that testify: the Spirit and the water and the blood; and these three agree. If we receive the testimony of men, the testimony of God is greater, for this is the testimony of God that he has borne concerning his Son. Whoever believes in the Son of God has the testimony in himself. Whoever does not believe God has made him a liar, because he has not believed in the testimony that God has borne concerning his Son. And this is the testimony, that God gave us eternal life, and d this life is in his Son. Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life.

I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God that you may know that you have eternal life. 1 John 5:6-13 ESV
