Commentary on "Partnership With Jesus"

Day 6: Thursday, March 24, 2011 - Hope and Trust in God

There should be nothing in our lives that comes more naturally than a daily walk with our Lord and Savior. When we were born again we were filled with the Holy Spirit from heaven and sealed with the same Spirit for heaven. Our stony heart was taken away and we were given a new and living heart. His teachings were written on our minds and on our hearts and we should find ourselves in alignment to what the Lord our God wants for our lives.

So how come so many of us have problems in our walk?

How come our lives are full of struggle instead of success?

Why do we find ourselves doing the exact opposite of what we’ve been set aside to do?

For me it was because I was still relying on my flesh, I had not come to a proper understanding of the facts about life after being born again.

Our hope is in God; the Father sent us the Holy Spirit, the very same Holy Spirit that powered Jesus powers us. The power that raised Jesus Christ from the dead is in us right now! We should be living victorious lives not lives where we’re often falling flat on our faces.

However God never promised an easy walk, He promised persecution, troubles, hard times, narrow and difficult paths.

He promised to never give us more than we could handle, and that our rough times were to refine us into the person He knew was hidden under all our selfish nature.

And finally He promised to glorify us and take us to His Father’s house, He promised an eternity with Him.

Our life should be a life of surrender, God is our pilot, the Holy Spirit is the one that is in control because when Jesus died on the cross He BOUGHT us, we are no longer our own. We need to live a life sold out to our Lord and Savior, our hope, our assurance is in heaven. Jesus Christ died, was raised on the third day, and sat at the right hand of the Father in Heaven.

We need to be sold out to Jesus Christ.

Your quarterly asks two questions at the end of this section and they are important, the answers should come quite naturally if you have been born again. Here is how I would answer those questions.

How can we learn to trust Him in bad times?

When we realize that He’s in us and living through those “bad times” with us and using them to refine us to bring our image closer to His the question becomes why we can’t trust Him in bad times.

How do we learn to trust when are prayers are not answered as we wish?

We learn to trust that He knows what we need in answer to our prayers rather than what we think we need. We tend to give God options on how to fulfill or answer our prayers, that’s limiting an unlimitable God! We need to let God answer our prayers exactly how He sees fit.
