Overview

The usual Ellen G. White quotations…

Problems

What a breath of fresh air to read the Faith and Works quotation. Would that all of Mrs. White’s writings were as clear.

Music truly is a powerful agent within humanity. When done by grace through faith, music can touch the soul like nothing else can. When done by works or obligation, music can damage the soul like nothing else can.

But the real issue is the assumption that worship somehow focuses on music and church services. This simply is not true. Both church services and music can be expressions of worship, but they do not define worship.

I worship every bit as much while answering an e-mail, or mowing the lawn, or playing with my granddaughter as I do while leading the band or teaching. This is because worship is not about what we do but about whose we are. God Himself became a man, lived, died, was resurrected and returned to eternity for us! God Himself removed sin as the cause of separation between us and Him. God Himself gives us eternal life and brings us that forgiveness when He takes up residence within us.

Imagine! The only true God lives within His children. This is what motivates true worship, and that worship will be expressed in whatever form happens to fit the individual – our entire beings totally consumed with Who He is, what He has accomplished, what He continues to accomplish, what He will accomplish, and then how we can abandon ourselves to Him.

“Then I looked, and I heard the voice of many angels around the throne and the living creatures and the elders; and the number of them was myriads of myriads, and thousands of thousands, saying with a loud voice,

‘Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power and riches and wisdom and might and honor and glory and blessing.’

And every created thing which is in heaven and on the earth and under the earth and on the sea, and all things in them, I heard saying,

‘To Him who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb, be blessing and honor and glory and dominion forever and ever.’

And the four living creatures kept saying, ‘Amen.’ And the elders fell down and worshiped.” (Revelation 5:11-14)
