Commentary on "Creation Care"
Day 6: Thursday, February 23, 2012 - Humankind's Dominion
In today’s lesson, the author acknowledges that much has changed since God first gave Adam the command to subdue and care for the earth (Gen. 1:26-28). The author asks the question about what the word “fill” means in Gen. 1:28, and how it relates to the way we should treat the earth.
In that passage, the context of “filling” the earth is being fruitful and multiplying. It really does not even implicitly give guidance about how to care for the environment. I think most Christians can agree that because God said His creation is 'very good’ we can agree with Him and respect/protect all life and the systems He has made to support life.
